Whether you want to fill the bare walls in your first apartment or create new artwork for your home, you can do so without stressing your wallet. All you need are a few inexpensive frames from the dollar or thrift store and your home printer.

Below, you will also find a link to two free printables that I created in Canva.

4 Extremely Easy Ways to Fill a Frame

I am an Amazon Associate. If you make a purchase through one of my links, I will make a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Frame Favourite Quotes

If you go into any decor store today, you will likely see framed quotes from famous people like Mother Teresa. They consist of simple text on a white background in a black frame.

You can easily create wall art like this at home for a lot less. In this example, I simply copied a quote from Winston Churchill, picked a font I liked and printed it out on regular printer paper. Then I just placed it in a black dollar store frame I already had on hand.

It’s just as nice as anything in a store and it cost next to nothing to make.

Create With Canva

I created these Bible quotes in Canva. Starting with one of their templates, I changed the colour to suit my tastes and added some florals. Then I just printed my designs on regular printer paper.

The 8×10 gold frames are from Dollar Tree and set off the artwork perfectly. These are on a wall beside my desk to serve as daily encouragement.

Frame Your Favourite Greeting Cards

If you like to save the greeting cards your family gives you, pull some of them out of the drawer and add them to a frame. I choose cards with simple images on the front or, as in the above example, simple images with words of inspiration.

You could include one or two of your favourite framed cards in a gallery wall or make a gallery wall using only framed greeting cards.

Free Online Images

There are thousands of images online that can be printed for free. All you have to do is download them to your computer, print them out and frame them. I printed out some fern images that already had a black border around them. Once framed, they look matted.

I used 4-8×10 document frames from Dollar Tree, hung them on my bedroom wall and love how they look grouped together.

Try these extremely easy ways to fill a frame the next time you’re in need of some new artwork for your home.
