Wall Art Using Dollar Tree’s Peel ‘n Stick Wallpaper

There are two wall areas in my apartment that have had me stumped as to what I could hang there. One is the space above the TV and the second is the bricked area above the fireplace. Dollar Tree’s  peel ‘n stick wallpapers come in a variety of styles, so you can choose whatever suits your style.

I saw someone on YouTube use the Dollar Tree wallpaper in several 4 x 4″ frames to make an art installation and thought it looked lovely but wanted something on a bit larger scale. I pulled out some of the trays I had in my craft stash, some peel and stick wallpaper and some some large peel and stick tiles and got to work.

Here’s how I made wall art using Dollar Tree’s peel ‘n stick wallpaper.

Idea 1: Four Tray Wall Art Using Peel ‘n Stick Wallpaper

Supplies Used

This is the pattern of Dollar Tree’s peel ‘n stick wallpaper I used. Give me greenery every time. 🙂 Naturally, you do you.

These two metal trays from my stash were silver before I spray painted them white.

Step 1: Cut Peel ‘n Stick Wallpaper to Fit Trays

I cut out a rough circle of paper to use on the inside of the round tray.

Step 2: Cut Wallpaper Down to Fit Inner Part of Trays

Then I pushed the paper down inside the tray and used my fingernail to outline where I need to cut it down so it would fit neatly into the centre of the tray.

I did the same with the squared tray, rounding the four corners to fit those places on the tray.

I’ve always loved the shape of these rectangular chargers/trays from Dollar Tree. They were silver before I spray painted them white.

As before, I pressed a sheet of wallpaper into the tray and used my fingernail to define where I need to cut it.

I repeated this process for the second rectangular tray.

I used Command velcro strips to hang the completed pieces. Position the trays on the wall in a pattern that suits your style.

I’m quite happy with the way my art installation using peel ‘n stick wallpaper turned out. It fills the space above the TV nicely while providing a hit of colour.

Idea Two: Two Trays and Two Frames

The area above the fireplace is white brick. Some of the bricks in the centre stick out, which makes it difficult to find a picture that will hang flat. Here’s what I came up with to solve the problem.

Supplies Used and Recommendations:

These removable peel and stick wall tiles are a recent addition to Dollar Tree in my area. They are made by the same company that makes the long sets of wall stickers. I loved this gold pattern. It’s slightly embossed and has a nice sheen to it. I could only find two tiles in the same pattern but I was sure I could make it work for my purposes.

I left the two trays in their original gold colour to match the tiles.

Step 1: Cut Peel ‘n Stick Tiles and Centre

To begin, I carefully cut one tile down the centre and centred it on the tray. As I knew the cut piece wouldn’t reach to the sides, I left a small gap at the top as well, so the framing would look intentional.

Step 2: Measure, Cut and Match

Next, I measured and cut a section of the remaining tile, about 3 1/2″ long,  to finish off the pattern on the tray. I also left a small gap at the bottom to match the top.

These tile patterns match up perfectly! I continued to do the same thing with the second tile and tray.

Step 3: Add Remaining Tile Pieces to Small Frames

I filled two 3 1/2 x 5″ frames with the two small pieces of peel ‘n stick tile left, simply sticking the tile to the frame backings and trimming the excess. Just make sure that the main pattern on the tile is centred in the frame.

I used Command velcro strips to hang this art installation, as well. Love the way this looks above my fireplace! It’s just the pop of colour the white surround needed.
