Make Beautiful Art From Old Frames and Stickers
Most crafters probably have a stash of old frames squirrelled away. I know I do! Recently I pulled out a few of these frames to see how I could reuse them to make new art for my home. I also really love Dollar Tree’s selection of wall and craft stickers. Could the two be combined, I wondered?
Stick around 😉 to see how to make beautiful art from old frames and stickers.
Six-Sided
Supples Used:
- hexagon frame (Dollar Tree)
- contact paper (Dollarama)
- sticker sheet (Dollar Tree)
I forgot to take a picture of the frame but it’s the same shape as the ones surrounding the plants in this sticker sheet. I liked the pattern in the contact paper. It rather reminds me of a trellis, which was perfect for the plant art I was creating.
This frame had already had the glass removed and been painted gold. I think we all know the drill of using the frame backing to trace out a piece of paper to fit. Then I choose one of the large plant stickers to place in the middle of the contact paper before putting it in the frame. I didn’t remove the backing from the contact paper, but you could stick it directly onto the frame backing if you wanted to.
I thought this would be my least favourite piece of all the ones I did, but it’s really grown on me. The sticker and frame complement each other perfectly.
Cacti Art
Supplies Used:
- 2 – 5×7″ black shadow box frames
- cacti stickers
- small stones
- moss
- hot glue
Using two of the cacti stickers from the same sheet of stickers as the previous piece, I placed one directly on the glass front of each of these frames.
I hot glued a layer of moss on the back of the first frame…
…and a row of small stones at the back of the second one.
I couldn’t find a sheet of backing paper in my stash that I thought would suit these, so I simply hung them without the backing, letting the beige of my apartment walls serve as the back drop.
Fern Trio
Supplies Used:
- two sheets of fern stickers (Dollar Tree)
- cream-coloured craft paper (on hand)
- 3 – 3 x 5″ gold frames (on hand)
These fern stickers were some that were left over from a previous project.
I cut out three pieces of the craft paper to fit inside each frame and replaced the backings.
I then placed the stickers directly onto the glass.
I used two of the same sticker to fill a frame when one didn’t seem enough. These would make a nice grouping on any wall that needs a hit of colour.
