Make a Cute Seahorse Shelf Sitter
The nautical motif is still popular and, if you enjoy decorating in this style, try this easy to do shelf sitter featuring a seahorse. If you can’t find the wood seahorse shapes, other sea-themed pieces in the same style, would work, too.
Here’s how to make a cute seahorse shelf sitter.

- piece of driftwood (Dollar Tree)
- utility knife
- hot glue
- acrylic paint
- greenery
I picked up the driftwood and the seahorse shapes last year at Dollar Tree. I did see that they had more bags of driftwood pieces this year. You will need a piece of driftwood approximately 2 1/2 inches long, with a flat side.
I neglected to take a picture, but I glued the two seahorse shapes together just to give my seahorse more substance and painted it in a gold metallic acrylic paint. Choose whatever colour suits your fancy.
Using my utility knife, I cut a slot in the middle of the piece of driftwood. This wood is very soft, so it didn’t take much effort.
I cut the slot deep enough so that the seahorse would stand up. I tested it without gluing to make sure.
Then, I hot glued the seahorse into the slot and reinforced it by adding hot glue to the outside edges, as well.
Next, I pulled some greenery off of a stem I had on hand and hot glued it to the driftwood base behind the seahorse.
Then I added another piece of the same greenery to the front of the driftwood, making sure that some of it covered the base of the seahorse where I added the additional hot glue.
I think this shelf-sitter, styled with some sea glass, makes a cute addition to my summertime decor.
