As a crafter, I love to work with wood shapes. They are a blank canvas that you can do so many things with. When I saw some large wood Easter shapes at Dollar Tree, I picked one up, even though I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do with it.

Because grass-covered objects seem to be trending lately, I ultimately decided to cover this shelf-sitter with faux grass. My faux grass Easter bunny, turned out pretty cute and it didn’t take long to finish, either.

Supplies Used and Recommendations:

This freestanding wood bunny is 1 inch thick and 8 inches tall. Dollar Tree had other wood shapes to choose from but I’m always drawn to the bunnies.

After pondering what to do with this piece, I decided to first cover it in some faux grass. This is a piece of grass tile I’ve had in my stash for some time.

Glue Faux Grass to Bunny and Trim

After hot gluing the faux grass to the shape, I used my utility knife to trim around the edges. These grass tiles would be tough to cut through using ordinary scissors or an X-acto knife, although I did use the smaller blade to reach into some of the crevices after the bulk of the material had been removed.

As you can see, cutting through these grass tiles leaves a bit of a mess behind. A Dust Buster is a great tool to keep on hand in the craft room for easy clean-ups.

Here’s what the bunny looked like after being trimmed up. Then I pondered what I could do to dress it up some.

Decorate Bunny with Tiny Flowers

When I was at Dollar Tree, I had picked up a couple of stems of faux gypso. I looked it up. Apparently, it’s also known as baby’s breath.

I pulled some of the flowers off of the stem and hot glued them to the bunny, using one for a nose and and line of four down each ear.

I used a cluster of three of these tiny flowers to make a tail for the bunny.

Add a Floral Collar to the Bunny

I still thought the bunny needed something more, so I added a floral collar to it. I first put two on either end of where I wanted the collar to be and one in the middle, to help ensure I kept it straight. Then I filled it in using four more flowers.

After I finished the collar, I was happy with the way the bunny looked. You could do something similar with any of the wood shapes from Dollar Tree. For instance, I can picture the wood egg shape, covered with grass and rows of different colours of these tiny flowers. How would you decorate one of these eight-inch wood shapes?
