Dollar stores always have so many beautiful seasonal decor pieces and signs to choose from. When I saw a certain hanging decor piece for spring at Dollar Tree this year, I knew exactly what I would do with it. This craft was so easy to make and the resulting large welcome sign is so bright and cheerful. Perfect for spring and Easter.

A Large Spring Welcome Sign

Supplies Used and Recommendations:

This is the original hanging sign I found at Dollar Tree. Each letter is about 3 inches long and I love the cheerful pastel colours used. I just removed all of the stables from the backs of each wood piece, using a staple remover and small pliers, so I could work with each piece separately.

I started with these MDF panels that I already had on hand. They’re about 10 inches square. I forget which dollar store they came from but I think they are sold in a set of four.

Step 1: Attach Panels To Make a Tall Sign

I used jumbo popsicle sticks and hot glue to attach three of the panels together to make a long sign that measured about 29 1/2 inches tall.

Step 2: Paint the Sign

Then I gave it a couple of coats of white acrylic paint.

Step 3: Glue Pieces to Sign

I hot glued the bunny onto the sign so that the head was just at the top edge. Then I glued the letters onto the centre of the sign, one underneath the other down the length of the sign.

I wasn’t meticulous about measuring, but there’s about an inch between each of the letters. After that I used some small window clings from a sheet I had in my stash from last year and used clear glue to attached them on either side of the letters. It was the perfect finishing touch.

This large sign isn’t sturdy enough to be a porch leaner, (even if I had a porch 🙂), but it makes a bright and cheerful welcome just inside my door. It was so easy to make and I love how it turned out.
