Spring and Easter
A Spring Bunny Banner
As crafters, we tend to look at things and envision using them in different ways. Such with the case with an Easter banner I picked up at Dollar Tree. I thought that the plain bunnies could use some sprucing up and I also wanted to be able to continue using it after the holiday.
Copy this idea for using a Dollar Tree Easter decoration, poster letters and rub-on transfers to make a spring bunny banner.

Supplies Used:
- bunny banner (Dollar Tree)
- poster letters (dollar store)
- white acrylic paint (on hand)
- rub on transfers (Dollar Tree)
Adding letters is a very simple thing you can do to add a bit of pizzazz to this plain banner. Here I’ve used some small stick-on letters I had in my stash to spell out the word “Easter.”
After Easter, you can turn this banner around to the non-tail side and decorate it to enjoy for the rest of the spring season.
I wanted to spell out the word “spring.” Using some 3-inch poster letters I already had on hand, I painted the appropriate ones with 3 coats of white acrylic paint.
After the paint was dry, I applied a coat of Mod Podge to each letter…
…and used these rub-on transfers to decorate each letter. I found I needed two sheets of these transfers to get the look I was after.
I love the finished result, but if I had it to do over, I would have looked for tiny stickers to use instead of the rub-ons. The reason being that, if you aren’t careful applying the rub-ons, you can still scratch the paint, despite the layer of Mod Podge.
I used white glue to attach a letter to the middle of each bunny in the banner. Hot glue on the low setting would have worked faster. I had to hold the edges of the letters down for a minute or two to ensure they were adhered properly.
As there are eight bunnies in this banner, and I didn’t want to leave the end ones blank, I glued insect stickers from my stash to them. A single flower embellishment on each end would be nice, too.
Dollar Tree also had a tulip banner, which I thought would have been even better for this, but I couldn’t find it in my store. Nevertheless, I like the way this turned out. You can display the Easter side during the holiday, then just flip it over and continue using it all spring.
