It’s always nice to seeing dollar stores starting to stock spring and summer items. There are always so many lovely things to choose from. A garden flag I found at Dollar Tree caught my eye and I reimagined it as art for my entryway. Choose a design that suits your decor.
Here’s how to turn a Dollar Tree garden flag into wall art.

Supplies Used and Recommendations
- garden flag of your choice
- 12 x 16″ wood artist’s panel or canvas
- Mod Podge
- hot glue
While the wood panel proved to be ideal for my purpose, you could also use a regular canvas in the same size.
Step 1: Iron Out the Wrinkles
Because the garden flag was folded up into a long narrow package, the first order of business was to smooth it out. For all you youngsters reading, this is an iron. We oldsters still use one from time to time to get the wrinkles out of fabric. 😉 Thank goodness todays fabrics are mostly wash and wear!
Because I was unsure of the type of fabric I was dealing with, I set my iron on the lowest heat setting. That proved to be enough heat to get the creases out of the garden flag.
Step 2: Centre Garden Flag onto Artist’s Panel
Because the background on the flag was similar to the colour of the wood panel, I didn’t think it necessary to paint the panel before adding the flag. I gave the panel a light coat of Mod Podge and centred the garden flag on it, smoothing it as I did so.
Step 3: Finish Edges
Next, I folded the bottom edge of the flag over the edge of the panel and glued it down. Then I finished the corners like I was wrapping a present and used hot glue to secure the edges.
There wasn’t much fabric left over on the right side of the panel, but hot glue held it in place.
Gluing left side of flag to the back of the panel.
Finished Wall Art
The finished wall art is the perfect welcome to guests visiting my home. It was so easy to do and I’m very happy with the way it turned out.
You could also use this art to decorate outside on a covered deck or patio.
