The inspiration for this metallic-look leaf art came from some art I saw in a store that featured a metal leaf in a large frame.

Use spray paint and some of the larger leaves from your stash to make this metallic-look leaf art. It’s so easy to do, you’ll be surprised by how good it looks.

Supplies Used and Recommendations:

These longer leaves I used are about 11 3/4 inches long but will fit in the frame on an angle.

I found these 8 x 10 shadow box frames at Dollarama. There’s about 1-3/4 inches between the backs of the frames and the glass, making them perfect for what I had in mind.

Step 1: Spray Paint the Leaves

I used a cooling rack to anchor the leaf stems in place while I spray painted them using Rustoleum’s Gold Rush. I didn’t end up using the leaf on the left, opting for two others with more interesting shapes. Choose any three leaves that you like.

Step 2: Trace Backings Onto Cardstock

The cardstock I used for the background needed to be trimmed to fit the 8 x 10 inch frames I was using, so I used one of the backings to trace the size needed.

Step 3: Apply Two-Sided Tape to Back of Leaves

I couldn’t find my roll of two-sided craft tape, so I used these larger tape squares I had on hand. This particular leaf only needed two of them to secure it to the cardstock.

Trim away most of the leaf stems, so they will fit comfortably into each of the frames.

I had to trim the width of the tape a bit so it didn’t show through the skinny parts of this leaf and angled it from left to right.

The wider leaf makes the perfect anchor for my three-frame metallic artwork display.

I angled this leaf from right to left, again making sure that the mounting tape was completely hidden.

The two angled leaves are ideal to bracket the middle leaf. I like the way this metallic-look leaf art looks on my dining room wall. The black frames make a perfect surround for the gold leaves.

In fact, I like the results so much, I just may make this metallic-look art using smaller faux leaves and frames, too.
