Frugal Gifts
For You, Mom
Nobody has to tell you that your mom is special.
She deserves the best. Only problem is, moneys tight these days. Not to worry. Let the dollar store show you how to give mom a gift that youve put your heart into.
You dont need a lot of money to show Mom you care. These two gold-colored brooches were just $1 each and we nestled them on some tissue paper in a heart-shaped dish that Mom can use later as a candy dish or to store jewelry in. It cost $2. The brooches come in a variety of designs and we saw them in both gold and silver colors.
Hard-working mothers always welcome spa gifts. We started with a stone-look pot for $2 and filled it with an assortment of pampering gifts. When you use two or more bath and body items by the same manufacturer this helps to give your present a store-bought look. Here, we chose Wild Honey Shower Gel and Wild Honey Body Lotion for $1 each, to which we added a four-sided pedicure paddle for $1.25, a soap-shaped candle for $1 and a small massager that cost $2. The pedicure paddle has a buffer brush and a pumice stone on one end and a metal file and smooth file on the other. The massager uses 3 AAA batteries that are not included but you can buy a card of four for a buck. If you include batteries, this gift is worth $9.25.
For moms who like to garden, consider this gift containing a pretty patterned trowel, three packets of flower seeds, a pair of gardening gloves and some hand cream packed into a 5 tall metal watering can. The trowel and watering can, which has 3-D metal accents, were $2 each. The seeds were three packets for $1 and the gloves and hand lotion were $1 each, making this a gift that cost $7.
